Ironman New Zealand was a special race. Why? Well, for one thing it’s always one of the stand-out antipodean triathlon events. But it also marked the start of Bevan Docherty’s Ironman career. The former ITU star announced he was stepping up to Ironman at the end of 2012, and he did it in style by demolishing a quality field. In the women’s race Meredith Kessler lead from the start to claim her fifth Ironman win.
