If proof were needed of the growing popularity of multisport events around the world, this is it. One of the UK’s pre-eminent multisport festivals, The Long Course Weekend, has signed a TV deal with the likes of ESPN, Eurosport and Channel 4.
The Long Course Weekend, which features (among other things) an Ironman-distance swim on Friday 12th July, bike on Saturday 13th July and run on Sunday 14th July, takes place around Tenby along the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast. For more information click here, or read the full press release below:
Well what a week it has been in the office – apart from the Rugby result! Lots of new partners coming on board and all our old friends returning. We have a new Hare for the swim……this I will tell you about later in the week! But as Hare’s go…..this is one giant Rabbit!
But we can now confirm the deal has been signed, sealed and delivered! Long Course Weekend will be televised this July and scheduled for release Worldwide across 160 countries. Channel 4 and Eurosport will cover the UK platform with ESPN having a large part of the worldwide platform.
The decision has delighted all that have been part of the dream of bringing world class events to Wales and we would personally like to thank all athletes and supporters; without whom this also would not have been possible.
The TV Coverage will cover:
The Wales Swim
The Wales Sportive
The Wales Marathon
Long Course Athletes
On a final note, as TV is said to add 5lbs to those being televised, our race directors have been enrolled on a crash diet, one they don’t seem to be taking very seriously at the moment!
So Athletes, Supporters, Taff Kids, Volunteers, Sponsors – The long Course 2013 Train is gathering speed!! See you in July. Diolch!
