TriStar Milton Keynes Forced To Cancel Pro Prize Purse

TriStar Milton Keynes has announced that they have been forced to cancel the prize purse available to pro athletes this year. The decision has been made due to ‘different financial parameters’ and will not affect the age group race.

Full statement below:
We have had to withdraw the prize purse for the professional athletes. Different financial parameters have changed recently so we had to take this decision in order to ensure the quality and sustainability of the event.

With regards to the PRO participation: we have contacted the athletes signed up in the PRO category and we’re waiting for their feedback. Once we have received this we will know how this has affected the PRO participation.

This does not affect the mass-participation race at all.

This does not affect our striving to establish the TriStar Milton Keynes event for the years to come

We had to take this decision as a few financial parameters have changed. One is the number of participants- which is way below what was projected.

Also our backup plan didn’t work out finally so we had to take this decision to secure a sustainable event. To afford this Pro Prize Purse would mean not to offer a proper event quality for the rest of competitors (age groupers). We do realize fully that this is not a popular decision and that is far from being ideal for the professional athletes – but we have to secure the future of this event and our partnership with the local partners.

We have taken this decision as we prefer to announce this now and to give the chance to the athletes to enter any other race next weekend. Star Events is in charge of this decision and would have been in charge of paying the prize purse to the athletes. Big Cow it the operational partner- and as such not to be taken liable for this decision.

We are also disappointed with this situation, but in this case this hard decision makes the event sustainable. We are catching up all the professional registered and offering solutions for this. This decision about TriStar Milton Keynes Pro Prize Purse is not affecting other past or future events. TriStar aims to offer high quality events for Professional athletes, age groupers and Triathlon fans. TriStar aims to set up in a short period of time a great success event in Milton Keynes, and this is the only way at this moment to keep growing up this race.
