Gear Review: Mavic Plamsa SLR Road Helmet

There’s no escaping the sleek stealth looks of the plasma SLR with its matt black finish and aggressive looking ventilation channels. It features an internal carbon fibre skeleton that allows Mavic to scoop out larger vents for greater airflow and cooling without compromising strength.

Keeping cool is not an issue with the SLR Fitting and adjusting the retention system is a doddle with the simple wheel on the rear. This set up offers a full 6cm of adjustment and easily adjusted on the fly, even with a gloved hand. The rear cradle can also be adjusted vertically and offers three positions to get the perfect fit for your head. Inside the antibacterial X-Static pads do a good job of providing a comfy ride while soaking up sweat and don’t niff like some that need to be washed every other ride.

The fit and general feel is top end (as the price reflects) and the SLR is up with the best pro level lids from all the main helmet brands. Comes with a neat storage / travel bag.
