Xtra Mile Events, organisers of the Oulton Park Spring Duathlon, have confirmed that the event is nearly sold out with less than 50 places remaining.

Taking place on Sunday 25th March 2012 around the famous Oulton Park Motor Racing Circuit in Cheshire, there will be a sprint race as well as a standard distance race with the latter one being an ITU World Championship qualifier. Both races are open to elite, amateur and novice racers.

The sprint race consists of running one lap (4.3 km), cycling 5 laps (21.6 km) and running one further lap (4.3 km), covering a total distance of 30.2 km. The standard distance race includes running 2 laps (8.6 km), cycling 9 laps (38.8 km) and finishing with running one last lap (4.3 km) around the race track, totalling 51.7 km.

The Oulton Park Spring Sprint Duathlon 2012 starts at 9.30 am and the standard distance race starts at 12 noon. Entrants for both races will line up on the starting grid with transition in the pit lane.

Event costs are £42 for individual entries or £55 for team entries which includes numbered racking and electronic chip timing. The prize givings take place after each event, with prizes awarded in the following categories: overall winners (male and female), male and female age groups, relay team prize, club prize (first 3 athletes from the same club) and novice prize.

The course records are currently held by Matt Moorhouse (2011, Athlete Matters, 01:41:03) and Danielle Stewart (2009, Team Coventry Cycle Centre, 01:55:26).
