Reflections On Kona From The Pros Who Raced

Anyone who witnessed the Ironman World Championships at the weekend was lucky enough to see one of the great races in the history of the sport. But what did the boys and girls who raced through the heat, humidity and winds of the Big Island make of it all? We scoured the Facebook and Twitter-spheres to glean the pro reactions to a massive weekend in Hawaii.

Chrissie Wellington (Twitter @Chrissiesmiles):  defied what i thought was possible. This is a dream come true. But I hurt like i never have before, and had to dig into the depths of my body and soul. I think i need a plate of chips

Mirinda Carfrae (Twitter @Mirindacarfrae): What a day!!! Tough race, The girls had me giving it everything out there. Just pulled up a little short.. Maybe next year My legs hurt!

Leanda Cave (Twitter @leandacave): Just to put u all in the picture….im over the moon….but I put myself in the hurt locker big time & im being carted off to the hospital. I’ll b fine tho!!

Pete Jacobs (Twitter @Petejjacobs): I’m so sore today I can barely move, I’m proud I gave it everything I could on the run & pushed myself to a place I’d never been.
