Four-time World Champion triathlete and current Trek/K•Swiss team member Julie Dibens and Waterloo, Wisconsin-based Trek Bicycles have reached an agreement that will keep Dibens aboard Trek for the remainder of her career.
A British Olympian, multiple Xterra and Ironman 70.3 World Champion, Dibens is one of the anchors of the Trek/K•Swiss Pro Triathlon team and a contender on any start line. An All-American swimmer at Louisiana State University, Dibens found herself favoring triathlon events when first introduced to the lifestyle by her collegiate roommate Becky (Gibbs) Lavelle.
In 2009, Dibens was introduced to Trek Bicycles and the love affair with American-made performance bicycles has been going strong ever since. Through the partnership, Julie developed into one of the strongest female cyclists in professional triathlon and became a driving force in Trek’s triathlon development efforts. Later that year, Dibens rode to victory at the Ironman 70.3 World Champs on one of the first Speed Concept prototypes ever seen in triathlon circles. “I am honored to work with Trek as a company on the development side but honestly it’s the bikes that sealed the deal. As soon as I tried the Speed Concept, I knew this was one serious speed machine. The combination of stiffness and aerodynamics makes me feel like I am setting PR’s every time I saddle up,” claimed Dibens during a break from her preparation on Hawaii’s Big Island for her second run at the Ironman World Championships.
One of the most unique characteristics about Julie Dibens is that she is accomplished in a diverse array of triathlon distances and disciplines. She has competed, and won, Olympic, 70.3, and full Ironman events as well being a three-time Xterra World Champion. Dibens will return to Maui this year to reclaim her off-road title aboard Trek’s carbon 29er racing phenomenon, the Trek Superfly 100.
