Birmingham Running Athletics and Triathlon Club (BRAT Club), the 2010 BTF National Club of the year, are to host the inaugural Birmingham Triathlon on 29th May 2011. This race will be held under two distances Sprint and Super Sprint. Whilst a second event to be held on 4th September 2011 will see competitors race at either Standard or Sprint distances.
For all too long the Country’s second City has not had a prestigious headline Triathlon event to call its own. London has both Hyde Park and The London Triathlon, Liverpool has its own headline event, whilst Manchester had Salford, to name just a few. Now Birmingham can join their ranks and enjoy its own showcase Triathlon Event…The BRAT Birmingham Triathlon. Situated at the West Midlands Water Ski Centre, a few miles north of the urban mass of Birmingham’s City Centre. This dedicated water sports resort nestles alongside the Middleton Lakes RSPB Wild Life Reserve and the River Tame. Offering one of the highest water quality ratings of any open water swim venue.

The swim itself will be within the dedicated water sports facility, a lake which is protected from the prevailing winds by buns (long and tall figure shapes hills) creating not only a calm and safe swim environment for the beginner but also a fast swim for the more seasoned triathletes.
The Bike Leg promises to be a relatively flat and fast, taking in much of the scenic North Warwickshire cycle route within the course. With works its way through and around Kingsbury Water Park. And finally the run will be a breathtaking affair around the waters edge, all athletes will get to enjoy the stunning views along “Pikes Ridge” to the finish line.

The venue’s log cabin clubhouse provides the setting for the bar & restaurant with a large sun deck overlooking the lake, ideal for spectators who will be able to cheer on both the swimmers and runners. It also houses changing facilities with heated showers. There is ample camping space with full facilities available. The whole day will be a friendly affair for competitors of all standards. We encourage all competitors to bring along as many family members and friends as they wish for support, as the event is great for spectators. Be you a seasoned Pro or a beginner to the sport participating in your first triathlon come along and enjoy the day…see you on race day.
