As part of our build-up to Kona, we’ll be following three athletes as they prepare to take on the legendary race. Andy Brodziak, 31, is a Corrective Exercise Sports Trainer and Triathlon Coach. Andy qualified for Kona at Ironman UK (10:12) and has previously represented both Great Britain and South Africa at ITU triathlon and duathlon events.

Aloha!

Welcome from Kona 2009… Arrived Friday night to my cool condo Sea Village which is on the water! Absolute bliss here, that’s all I can say in Kona. I’m really enjoying relaxing & just lapping up the atmosphere here.

I’ve been out on the Queen K highway on the bike just ticking the legs & acclimatising to the elements. Also been out in the sea, what’s amazing is you can jump in from the beach start and there are tropical fishies everywhere, even dolphins! crazy. On Wed I rocked up at the Coffee’s of Hawaii expresso boat and grabbed a quick shot & chatted to Bevan from IM Talk – a talk show online – he then gave me a quick 2-3min interview which is live on IM Talk, Kona day 2 special at about 1h21 into it. Good coffee as well! I swam like a demon straight away.

2 days to go, will go register & check out more of the keen Tri beans which have taken over the island this week! My sister Di is out here from CA keeping me company & enjoying the sun! Had a bbq yesterday with the Ironguides team which was cool, thanks guys.

What a week so far, I’ll do a full race report on Sunday after race..Mahola!

Andy
