Kona Calling: Andy Brodziak’s Blog (Part One)

As part of our build-up to Kona, we’ll be following three athletes as they prepare to take on the legendary race. Andy Brodziak, 31, is a Corrective Exercise Sports Trainer and Triathlon Coach. Andy qualified for Kona at Ironman UK (10:12) and has previously represented both Great Britain and South Africa at ITU triathlon and duathlon events.
This being the first part of the build to the big day out in Kona in a month, here’s what I’ve been up to. I qualified at IMUK in August, so had two weeks off to chill, have some beers and late nights. Needless to say, by the end I was bogged down with a nice cold and was over it. So got back into some sort of routine again.
I’m not killing myself for Hawaii as the hard work is done and don’t want to get there overtrained and not enjoy myself. Instead I’m just keeping the body working and staying out of trouble.
Had some great news after qualifying that Cairn Capital in London committed to sponsoring me not only to Hawaii but for a year going ahead along with my long time shoe/feet guru’s at Profeet as well. Thanks very much guys. I’m off to Tuscany for a week taking clients out riding, which should be fun. I also hope to sneak a few sessions in between our rides too. Ride an Italian and quite into Italians at the moment, so I’d better brush up on my Italian lingo. Ciao.
